SCRIPTURE FOCUS
Philippians 2:1-16 Good News Translation (GNT)
Don't do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble toward one another, always considering others better than yourselves. And look out for one another's interests, not just for your own. The attitude you should have is the one that Christ Jesus had
Philippians 2:3-5a
God is always at work in you to make you willing and able to obey his own purpose. Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may be innocent and pure as God's perfect children, who live in a world of corrupt and sinful people. You must shine among them like stars lighting up the sky, as you offer them the message of life.
Philippians 2:13-16a
TODAY
I need to have God centered not Sam centered thoughts, words, and actions. All of this starts with my heart in gratitude for what Jesus has done for me, the life He has given me, His love continually being poured out to me, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
As I go into the marketplace this morning it is very important that I go immersed (saturated) in the presence of the humble meek love of God. To see every expectation, task, request, and all of the people connected to that request in the light of God's love for all people ... to be forgiven and sanctified by believing in what He has done for us at such a great sacrifice. Jesus' humble love drew lots of people toward His light and life. He wasn't quiet or whishy washy or weak just the opposite but His love and compassion overflowed in everything. Jesus sacrifice was not just what He did on the cross, but was in the way He set aside His rights every single hour. If the one who actually deserved to boast and be honored and given praise and accolades could do that, and this is the one I call Savior and Lord, the I claim has ruling power in my life, I certainly can set aside my "Sam centeredness" for one day.
PRAYER
God, since I really only have TODAY, the desire you are willing in me is to have all of my be "God centered". Lord saturate my heart, overflow me with your love, power and presence that in EVERYTHING I reason, and every decision I am faced with, and every task I undertake, and every person I encounter, every thing I open my mouth to say, every hard thing I face, in the workplace expectations that are in competition with one another, and in the simple things, ... may I love and please you by loving others ... may I have You at my center, willing me and enabling me, to do ALL things without out complaint or argument. May I always remember in the depth and in the outward expression of everything, that I am Your Child, a joint heir with my Savior, lovingly paid for at huge price, and that you are training me to in how to take on Your divine nature, and the inheritance and righteousness that were not attainable for me. May I be willing in some small part to gratefully sacrifice my ambitions, not by neglecting my responsibilities but while fulfilling them in such a way that honors pleases God and honors others. That especially in the workplace where you have called me that I might in word and deed SHINE with the light of You, and that my life and my words would declare the message of Life.
By faith in Christ Jesus, and in His name I ask these things. AMEN.
