Yesterday October 2 (just a few of my moments I don't want to slip by unnoticed)Up at 6 (not 5) am. by 6:15 Shawn was up too, but we both were doing our own thing. Me:
coffee, feed the cat, a bit of bible reading, a bit of social network browsing, then ducks (change water in all the buckets, food, drain and refill pools). After that a quick shower, get dressed for work, and then I paused for a bit more bible study and serious prayer over a few specific situations. It was a sweetness for me to spend this time sitting on my bed with my Heavenly Father in His Word and seeking His Word and Will for prayer for these specific situations.
Then I took a few work phone calls and got started on one work task. Then I was on my way to the office.
Arrived at work. We were without internet, so it was off to Starbucks to use their internet and get some work things done. Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte (no whip for me, thank you), warm bagel with butter, and being productive with my work-work. That state of being is very pleasant.
By midday it I was headed back to the office: more productivity, mixed with a rising pursuit of flexible excellence. (No, not actual excellence, but it was good to be working toward it again with a flexible "out of the box" kind of attitude toward the pursuit of excellence).
After work, Wednesday Night Service at Bethesda Community Church. I was happy to speak with (with connect with) a few of my grown up church friends. This Wednesday's service started with musical worship. (I know that is a funny way to say it, but worship comes in many forms, and I dislike it when we say "we didn't have worship", if a particular service or meeting didn't include musical worship.) The Spirit of God was manifest and fluid, moving over and in us. The Spirit of God was sweet and tranquil yet active and flowing, pouring a deep and wide measure of His Love into us. Through this sweet presence of God's Spirit the Word of God was recalled, prayed, and spoken. What a sweet sweet Spirit. Our Music and Fine Arts Pastor Daneyelle Boynes has such a beautiful connection to the Spirit of God and her music is her gift to communicate the heart of God. I believe that, by the present working of God in this service, lives are changed and being changed through greater revelation of who God is and His love for us corporately and individually. This is God's work in us individually affecting the whole of us corporately, regionally, and within whole body of Christ, globally and eternally. His Spirit so very sweet, so full of love, so captivatingly beautiful. How do you explain this to those who have not experienced this manifestation? Well here is my attempt. By worshiping God, and by the revelation (knowledge understood in the depths of our understanding) of who God is, our state of mind (thoughts and attitudes) changed and our love for God increased, as we understood at deep levels His love for us. This created a sweet and peaceful state of being.
After service, a couple of conversations; some fun, some sharing struggles, attempts at encouragement received as a rough cutting edge, made amends as best as I could, then had to release the rest and trust in the strength of the relationships.
The evening ended with cheese and meat roll ups for dinner, sitting next to the love of my life. I watched a bit of light entertainment on TV and Shawn half read and half watched TV. We had simple little interactions. For dessert, I ate four frozen pop cycles. Yes that is correct FOUR of them. yummy - yummy - yummy - yummy - Shawn teased me but also encouraged me to go ahead and enjoy them. It was a simple pleasure, just sitting next to my husband without any disagreement or tension. A tiny moment when compared to the whole of our lives, but an enjoyable and significant "tiny moment" one of many that make up the longevity of our relationship.
Then it was time for bed. I think I fell asleep within 1 minute of lying down. - sleep - sweet sleep
I think the word for yesterday is "sweet" or "sweetness".
