On Friday afternoon we had 3 hours of soaking rain, made things a bit slippery and uncomfortable but did not stop us from enjoying the rock scramble. Old Rag has a GREAT rock scramble! Old Rag has a couple of 360 degree view points, too! Once the rain blew over the wind picked up and nearly blew us off the summit ... I could not stop giggling. It was blowing SO HARD!
We camped not far from (a little ways past) Old Rag day shelter. My mummy sleeping bag worked well and kept everything but my toes warm overnight (damp socks). It was a cold windy night and it snowed a bit. The wet/damp clothes and cold slowed me down (in body and mind) some Friday night and Saturday morning, but once we were up and moving it was great.
On Saturday, even though it was cold (started in the 20s and "warmed" to the 40s by the afternoon), the skys were much clearer and the views along the way beautiful. Robertson Mountain was a pretty hike with views all the way up and down.
We were out of practice and made a few novice mistakes that we would not have made several years back (like not packing the rain gear where we had easy access to it, and not putting the change of clothes within an additional layer/inside water proof bag), but we just concider that a lesson learned (re-learned) and are excited that we made the time to go, and are looking forward to going backpacking again.
I made a slide show of our pictures and videos .... (see below) ... yes it is 12 minutes long ... and the sound may (or may not be) be a bit "off" (depends on your internet speed I think) ... but come on don't you want to see my pictures and video??? Of course you do!
